I like the idea of a kart racer like Modnation or Blur being included. I think that'd draw a big crowd. And as always, I put in a request for Tekken 6 please.

::Renamed topic title to "2010 - Video Game Suggestions"
First off, I'd like to thank everyone for their suggestions and I'll try to answer everyone to the best of my ability.
We're aware that Touhou is popular within the general anime crowd, but it's very niche with only a select number of people actually playing the games.
There are a lot of issues with running Touhou in gaming rooms:
1 - Occasional language issues, (yes I know most versions are translated)
2 - Occasional updates to the game software
3 - Navigation and control issues (switching games with keyboard and mouse and USB controllers in game)
4 - Creating and switching profiles and setting your card layouts
All of these are off the top of my head and none of them are practical or friendly to use for casual gamers that come into the gaming rooms looking for a quick game of this or that.
Due to the sheer number of people requesting Touhou, it can't be ignored and will be at SabotenCon 2010 available to play
BUT....
if the setup is relatively unplayed for the majority of the convention (like it was at ConNichiwa 2010) or if people are consistantly confused on how to get the games/profiles/settings/controls running, then those of you who are Touhou players will have to settle for playing it on one of your own laptops elsewhere at future events.
Super Smash Bros Brawl is guaranteed for at least one DEDICATED system setup with Gamecube controllers.
Super Street Fighter IV is guaranteed for at least one DEDICATED system setup with choice of AZHP's SFIV Tournament Edition Fightsticks or 3rd party PS3 knock off controllers.
It's a fun game but it's got mixed reviews, heavy load times and simply isn't popular enough. Although I personally think MNR is a better game, we'd likely run Mario Kart Wii ahead of this if we run a kart racer.
We've tried multiple versions of handheld gaming tournaments thru the last 4 years and all have failed. Everyone says they're interested on forums and yet they never show up or follow thru at the event.
I'd love to do a Pokemon DS tourney, but it's also too tough to police due to everyone being on different levels or owning hacked versions of the DS cart.
The newer version of Melty Blood "Actress Again" is guaranteed for at least one system setup with choice of AZHP's SFIV Tournament Edition Fightsticks or PS2 controllers.
It will not be a dedicated system for MBAA, so you'll have to ask one of the gaming staff members to switch it to MBAA if it's on something else such as Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, SFIII: 3rd Strike, Capcom VS SNK 2 etc.
Sorry, but we currently run 1 console FPS game on a LAN of 360s and it's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 due to the overwhelming popularity of the game. We might run Halo Reach, depending on the game's rating, popularity and balance.
Almost every American and Japanese release of DDR is guaranteed on one DEDICATED system setup with two Cobalt Flux Metal dance pads.
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is guaranteed for at least one DEDICATED system setup with choice of AZHP's SFIV Tournament Edition Fightsticks or 3rd party PS3 knock off controllers.
And of course there will be a tourney.
We'll run BlazBlue on the more reliable, tournament standard PS3 system. The controller D-pads are superior on the PS3 anyways.
I appreciate you trying to help Mark, but considering you're not on the AZHP Video Gaming staff you probably shouldn't be telling people what we will run in the gaming room.
Word.
See above under L4D quote.
And none of the consoles will have PSN or XBL access.
We will not be running a Touhou tournament. If I see more than 10 people interested in a tournament on a competitively balanced Touhou fighting game, then we'll run it. For now, none of that applies.
Touhou discussion in this topic is over as it takes up 1/2 of the posts in the topic that should be left for game suggestions.
Make a separate topic in the "Smokey Arcade" to talk about Touhou.
Any future discussion about Touhou in this topic will result in deleted posts.
hehe
Do you have some skill? ::looks at you with smirk::
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike is guaranteed for at least one system setup with choice of AZHP's SFIV Tournament Edition Fightsticks or PS2 controllers.
It will not be a dedicated system, so you'll have to ask one of the gaming staff members to switch it if it's on something else such as Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, Melty Blood: Actress Again, Capcom VS SNK 2 etc.
I'm sorry, but no way. Game is horrible.
Your suggestions are completely invalid due to your uninformed last review of our gaming room (PCC) and will be ignored. jk kinda.
Tekken 6 is guaranteed for at least one system setup with choice of AZHP's SFIV Tournament Edition Fightsticks or 3rd party PS3 knock off controllers.
It will not be a dedicated system, but we'll do our best to rotate it in and out often enough.
haha no. Find a new main.

well, if we can get a good amount of people. we can get a tourny. but i'll be there for some time.
If we can pull out Phantasmagoria of Flower View then there would be hell.

Disgruntledotaku wrote:The problem with a touhou 12.3 tourny, is that there are some card combinations that are so utterly broken that there is just no way to win against them. Not to mention there are a few characters (Utsuho) are increadably overpowered.
But that's just my two cents.
ScarletDragon wrote:and don't forget the string combos.
hate you Tenshi, Yukari, and Suika...
Aoriki wrote:Don't forget about Patchy's cheap card, Royal flare can pawn someone ass...(I blame my friend for raping me using that card...; -;) if there is going to be a Touhou Tourny then I may need to re-download the game and readd all the characters >_<;

Although our PCs have the requirements to run it, SC2 requires a consistent internet connection and doesn't have an offline LAN mode available.
We will have SC1 available on our PCs though.

AZHP will pass on the high cost of Move controllers and spend it's money on more useful products for now. If in the future some decent games are released then it will be a consideration.
